Karimun Police Reveal 56 Drug Cases Throughout 2024

BATAM - Karimun Resort Police (Polres), Riau Islands, revealed 56 drug cases throughout 2024. Karimun Police Chief AKBP Robby Topan Manusiwa was confirmed in Batam, Tuesday, saying the number of disclosures increased compared to 2023 as many as 53 cases.

"In 2024 there were 56 cases of drug crimes by disclosing large amounts of evidence," he said.

He said that of the 56 cases, his party arrested 90 suspects consisting of 87 male suspects who were Indonesian citizens and two female Indonesian citizens.

"There is one female suspect from a foreign national," he said.

The amount of evidence for disclosure during 2024, namely 32.1 kg of methamphetamine, 1,391 ecstasy pills, 6.66 grams of marijuana, 549 happy five pills, 1 gram heroin, 9.50 grams of tawas. When compared to 2023, there were 53 cases with 84 suspects, consisting of 80 men and four women. The amount of evidence is 11.9 kg of methamphetamine, 235.94 grams of marijuana, 3,966 ecstasy pills, one happy five item.

"Drug cases are a public concern that has been successfully uncovered by the Karimun Police," he said.

According to him, the case in question was 11.6 kg of methamphetamine which was brought by three suspects who were arrested in front of Sri Tanjung Gelam Karimun Port on December 5. Then the discovery of methamphetamine weighing 9.3 kg of crystal methamphetamine was handed over by Kodim 031/Tanjung Balai Karimun which was found by a resident named Kim JU in a mangrove forest on the edge of Teljuk Island, Pasir Panjang Village, on October 23.

"The suspect in this discovery is still under investigation," he said.

The next case of methamphetamine weighing 2.8 kg was brought by one suspect in the East Lakam River on September 2. Then, 2.1 kg of crystal methamphetamine was found by fishermen wrapped in Chinese plastic in the waters to the right of Karimun, a subsidiary of Pongkar village, Tebing District, Karimun Regency, apda October 18.

The next disclosure of methamphetamine weighing 1.7 kg, 376 ecstasy pills in the Barcelona logo, 387 ecstasy pills in the skull logo, and psychotropic types of happy five pills (ermis 5) as many as 60 pills brought in by three suspects in the Lakam River on September 2.
