JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the DPR, Syarief Alkadrie, criticized the statement of the National Police Traffic Police which stated that it would not prevent residents who wanted to go home before May 6, 2021.

Syarief clarified that the government has set a ban on going home on May 6-17 to limit residents so that there is no congestion in the regions.

"That is a misinterpretation, I hope that the language is not so good, on 6-17 (May) there is no opening at all to go outside the region. This could happen that travelers will take the homecoming before that date, there will definitely be crowds," said Syarief to journalists, Thursday, April 15th.

Therefore, the NasDem politician asked the government to tighten and clarify the 2021 homecoming rules.

"How to make homecoming before that date, of course, must be tightened. I hope the government will tighten up the homecoming, at least the conditions must be met, not to create a new cluster," said Syarief.

If the homecoming is carried out before the date of the ban, Syarief urges the government to further tighten the conditions imposed on travelers.

"They have to pocket the antigen, or now GeNose is using it," he continued.

Previously, Korlantas Polri said that it would not prevent residents who wanted to go home to Lebaran 2021 before May 6.

"How about the early homecoming, before the 6th, so go ahead. We make it smooth," said Police Headquarters Police Inspector General Istiono in a written statement, Thursday, April 15.

Istiono emphasized that the homecoming ban will take effect on May 6-17. According to him, the homecoming ban was imposed to break the chain of COVID-19.

"After the 6th, we are not allowed to go home. We are divided, the dangerous ones gather together, crowd together. This will increase the spread of COVID-19, we must anticipate this," he explained.
