IKN Air Defense Will Be Equipped With New Missiles With Moderate Shooting Power

JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Muhamad Tonny Harjono said the Indonesian Air Force would strengthen IKN air defenses by presenting new air defense missiles.

"We will get four artillery battalions of air defense missiles," said Tonny at TNI AU Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday, December 30, confiscated by Antara.

To note, in one battery it usually consists of two to six platoons of troops led by one commander. The air defense battery will be placed at strategic points to support the security of the IKN airspace.

Tonny continued, the missile will be equipped with radar detection technology and medium range.

However, KSAU did not explain in detail the origin of the missile manufacturer.

"The system that will be activated in the near future is a medium-range missile and hopefully it will come gradually in 2027," said Tonny.

The purchase of air defense missiles is one of the efforts of the Indonesian Air Force in strengthening the IKN airspace.

Previously, the Indonesian Air Force had conducted a major Angkasa Yudha 2024 exercise with a simulation of securing the IKN area. In the exercise, the Indonesian Air Force deployed all defense equipment and squadron strength to carry out several war simulations.

Not only physical war simulation exercises, but the Indonesian Air Force also conducts cyber defense simulations using various advanced technologies.

The entire series of exercises was carried out to ensure that the IKN area was safe from airstrikes of other military forces.
