BMKG Weather Forecast: Light To Moderate Rain In Various Regions Of Indonesia Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that most parts of Indonesia will experience light rain on Monday, December 30, 2024.

"The Padang area is predicted to be shrouded in thick clouds," said forecaster Sentia Arianti via the BMKG YouTube channel, Monday, as quoted by ANTARA.

Meanwhile, light rain is expected to occur in several cities such as Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, and Pekanbaru.

The city of Medan is predicted to experience moderate rain, while thick clouds will decorate the sky in the Bengkulu and Jambi regions.

For the Lampung area, light rain is predicted to fall in the city. BMKG also reminded the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Palembang and Pangkalpinang. "Starting to Java Island, light rain is predicted to flush the cities of Serang, Jakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya," added Sentia.

Moderate rain is predicted to occur in the city of Bandung, while the potential for rain with lightning also needs to be watched out for in the city of Yogyakarta.

"To the regions of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, light rain is predicted to occur in Mataram City," he continued.

In Denpasar City, moderate-intensity rain is expected to fall, while Kupang City has the potential to be hit by rain accompanied by lightning.

"Starting to Kalimantan Island, Pontianak City is predicted to be foggy," explained Sentia.

In addition, light rain is expected to flush the cities of Palangka Raya and Samarinda, while the cities of Banjarmasin and Tanjung Selor have the potential for thunderstorms.

"On the island of Sulawesi, light rain is predicted to occur in the cities of Mamuju, Makassar, Palu, and Kendari," he said.

Rain with moderate intensity is expected to occur in Gorontalo and Manado.

"Finally, for eastern Indonesia, the city of Manokwari is predicted to be shrouded in thick clouds," the forecaster concluded.

Ambon, Ternate, Sorong, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya cities have the potential to experience light rain. Meanwhile, rain with moderate intensity is predicted to fall in Nabire and Merauke.
