DPR Collects Government Promise: No Layoffs In Sritex

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VII DPR Saleh Partaonan Daulay highlighted the appeal of PT Sritex which was rejected by the Supreme Court. This means that PT Sritex is still declared bankrupt. He also asked for the government's promise that previously there would be no layoffs at PT Sritex.

"If it is bankrupt, the impact will be broad. The production and distribution system will be constrained. Workers may be threatened with not being able to work. There are many who are worried that there will be massive layoffs," Saleh told reporters, Thursday, December 26.

The former chairman of the PAN faction then urged the government to take the necessary steps to save PT Sritex employees. According to him, all necessary efforts can be made.

Saleh emphasized that the main orientation is to save more than 50,000 employees.

"I heard that there are employees who don't work. The raw materials run out. Like it or not, many have been laid off. This should not happen," said Saleh.

Saleh said, in a meeting with Commission VII before the Supreme Court's decision, the minister of industry promised that employees would be guarded and saved. No one should be laid off and lose their jobs.

"I remember Mr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita's promise. At that time he said that whatever the Supreme Court's decision was, the government would try not to lay off. This policy seems to be based on the direction of President Prabowo," he said.

"The atmosphere is indeed difficult. There must be a tactical, systematic, and on the basis of the right jurisdiction to maintain this. It is necessary to explain the government so that the public understands the direction and orientation that will be carried out by the government," continued the Sumatran electoral district legislator.

Therefore, the Deputy Chairperson of PAN hopes that President Prabowo can immediately participate in guarding. Because according to him, this issue is big and the president's influence is very much needed.

"At least, the president assigned several cabinet members to guard and organize so that PT Sritex would continue to operate. That way, no one should be laid off or laid off," concluded Saleh.
