JAKARTA - The Gegana Bomb Disposal Team of the Metro Jaya Police carried out sterilization of 13 churches spread across East Jakarta ahead of the Christmas celebration on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

In the church which is located next to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jibom officers carefully sterilized the places of worship, pulpits, pastor's rooms, kitchens, toilets, parking areas and a number of other points.
East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly said his party deployed 11 personnel from the Gegana bomb disposal team (Jibom) of the Metro Jaya Police to inspect 13 churches that were categorized as vulnerable.
After conducting an Ecumenical church inspection, the Jibom team also sterilized the Kebon Pala HKBP church in Makassar District. As a result, officers did not find any suspicious objects in these two churches.

For the security of 232 churches, he said, the East Jakarta Metro Police were assisted by elements of the TNI and Satpol PP as well as community organizations.

General Treasurer of the Kebon Pala Sintua Church, Luther Munthe, said there were around 1,300 heads of families (KK) or 2,000 congregations who would carry out worship at the HKBP church.
