When Luxury Accommodation In Spain Is Willing To Accommodate Refugees And Homeless People

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 pandemic does not only contain stories of sadness and big losses. On the other hand, COVID-19 is actually proof of humanity in various forms of caring for each other to be harmonious.

Interestingly, this speck of goodness was present in one of the countries with the highest positive numbers in the world, namely Spain. The owner of La Ciguena Resort, a luxury inn in Madrid that usually accommodates travelers from various foreign countries, is now filled by them, refugees from Venezuela and homeless people.

As reported by Reuters, the manager of La Ciguena Resort, Miguel Angel Carnero has given access to stay for some of Madrid's most vulnerable families. "We thought, 'What can we do, we have to do something' and it took a second to offer."

This was done after he had to close the hotel because of the COVID-19 outbreak that hit Spain. Counting, there are 12 families with a total of 65 people in this inn. Most of them are refugees from Venezuela.

"This is a way to do our part, to contribute during this pandemic," he said.

Even though the inn staff has been temporarily suspended. On the basis of humanity they volunteered to come to help, so that refugee families could receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining room overlooking the lake. Even so, the refugees are still expected to maintain a distance of two meters from each other.

One of the refugees from Venezuela, Stephanie Paez, who is eight months pregnant, expressed her joy to be accommodated at La Ciguena Resort. "Since we arrived, they have met our every need." He also said the goal of coming to Spain was to find a job, an apartment and obtain a residence permit after the COVID-19 crisis was over.

This effort proves that no matter how heavily the plague rains on a country. As long as there is goodness, therein lies the answer to be able to contain the spread of COVID-19. Moreover, now that Spain has become one of the countries with the highest deaths in the world, it is certain that a point of goodness is needed.
