Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan discussed cooperation in the field of security stability between Indonesia and the United States (US) and the United States Ambassador to Indonesia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdir.

The discussion occurred when Budi Gunawan received Kamala's visit at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 17.

"We discussed various potential collaborations in the implementation of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and the United States," said Budi Gunawan as quoted by ANTARA.

According to Budi, Indonesia has a long history of good relations with the United States. Several collaborations between Indonesia and the United States have also occurred, such as joint military exercises to the economic sector.

This cooperation has also proven to produce good results for both parties, such as stronger military defense to the emergence of strategic economic policies.

Therefore, Budi hopes that his meeting with Kamala today can further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United States.

"I hope that the two countries will continue to be committed to strengthening cooperation in various fields," said the former Deputy Chief of Police and Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

To note, bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United States have been running for 75 years since Indonesia's independence struggle period.

As an important milestone in relations between the two countries, President Prabowo Subianto, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the United States at the White House, Washington DC on 12 November.

During the meeting, the US Government stated that it fully supports the government of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and national priority programs, namely Astacita.
