JAKARTA - Polish authorities confiscated 44 liters of liquid cocaine worth about 7.5 million zlotys (1.85 million US dollars) hidden in a cardboard wine pack.

Officers from the Maritime Border Guard Unit in the northern port city of Gdansk are working with Czech customs officers to confiscate drugs in the Lublin area of southern Poland.

The delivery of branded wine along with the liquid cocaine hidden was initially loaded onto a container ship in the Panamanian port, the Border Guard said in a statement reported by Reuters on Tuesday, December 17.

The cargo should have reached Poland via a route passing through one of Europe's seaports and customs points in Ostrava (Czech Republic).

Three men have been arrested in connection with this investigation and there may be further arrests, Garda said.
