JAKARTA - Seven convicts in the murder case of Vina and Eky chose not to apply for clemency after the Supreme Court (MA) decided to reject the request for judicial review (PK).

The convicts are Jaya, Supriyanto, Eka Sandi, Hadi Saputra, Eko Ramadhani, Sudirman, and Rivaldi Aditya Wardana.

"Yes (the convicts refused to apply for clemency)," said the attorney for the convicts, Jutek Bongso to VOI, Tuesday, December 17.

However, the reason the convicts refused to apply for clemency was not clearly conveyed. So far, Jutek said, his client always gave the same answer when asked several times for clemency applications.

Therefore, it is said that the legal team has not been able to confirm the steps to be taken. Jutek said that for now, his party will wait for the submission of a copy of the Supreme Court's decision.

"We are waiting for a copy of the verdict before the legal steps ahead," said Jutek.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court decided to reject the PK application submitted by Saka Tatal and seven convicts in the murder case of Vina and Eky in Cirebon.

"The public has conducted a deliberative session and read the verdict on Monday, December 16 with a decision on which the poko rejects the application for judicial review of the convicts," said the spokesman for the Supreme Court, Yanto.

With the rejection of the PK application, the criminal sentence that has been handed down at the trial at the previous stage remains valid.

This means that the convicts, including Saka Tatal, will continue to serve life imprisonment.

"With the rejection of the PK applications of the convicts, the decisions requested by the PK will still apply," said Yanto.
