Three Elementary School Children Dragged By The Irrigation River, Serang Baros Found Dead

SERANG - The Banten Search and Rescue Office (Kansar) stated that three elementary school children who were swept away by the current of the Irigasi Baros River, Serang Regency were found dead.

Head of Operations and Alert Section of Banten Basarnas Hairoe Amir said the victims were M. Rival (11) and Mathesa (11) from Sindangmandi Village, and Eka Julianti (8) from Kerrosok Village.

"On Monday at 14.00 WIB, the victim Eka Julianti was found by the SAR Team 800 meters from the scene and was immediately taken to the funeral home," Hairoe said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 10.

Then the next two victims were found in the morning on the second day of searching.

"The search for the second day at 07.45 WIB, the SAR team again found the second victim on behalf of Mahesa 1.9 kilometers from the scene of the incident and was immediately taken to the funeral home," he said.

Furthermore, at 08.16 WIB, the SAR Team again found the third victim, namely M. Rival, 3.9 kilometers from the scene in Panunggulan Village, Baru Village, who was dead and immediately evacuated to the Baros Health Center.

"With the discovery of all the victims, SAR operations are proposed to be closed and the elements involved are returned to their respective units," he continued.

The incident began when the three victims had just returned home from school through a bridge that was submerged in water behind SMPN 1 Baros.

"Then the three victims slipped and fell into the Irigasi Baros River and then carried away by the current," said Al Amrad.
