KPK Handles 597 Cases Since 2020-2024 And Deposits IDR 2.4 Trillion To The State

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango revealed that there were 597 cases that had been handled by his institution for four years.

This was conveyed when he opened a series of commemorations of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2024 on Monday, December 9. Nawawi said that several cases handled occurred in the legal sector, licensing of natural resources, education to health.

"In an effort to take action against corruption, from 2020 to 2024 or for the past 5 years, the KPK has handled 597 cases," Nawawi said in his remarks at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, December 9.

In the process, continued Nawawi, the KPK is not only focused on implementing corporate crimes as an effort to deter the perpetrators. However, the institution is also trying to recover state losses.

"KPK has succeeded in carrying out asset recovery, which is one of the real contributions from eradicating corruption in state cash revenue through Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP), which is IDR 2,490,470,167,594," he said.

"Especially for 2024, the total asset recovery is IDR 677,593,085,560," continued Nawawi.

Furthermore, system improvements are also being carried out by the anti-corruption commission in order to prevent corruption. Nawawi said this step was taken to carry out the monitoring function.

"The monitoring function of the government's administrative system is carried out through technical studies and finds weaknesses in systems in several sectors," he said.

"The improvement of the system in sectors that affect people's lives, such as health, education, hajj management, bad credit at Regional Development Banks, to the management of natural resources and mines, is the focus of the KPK monitoring function," concluded Nawawi.
