KPK Turns into Showroom to Show Off Confiscated Luxury Vehicles Ahead of Hakordia Commemoration

JAKARTA - The luxury vehicles looted by corruptors that will be auctioned during the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) were exhibited at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today. This condition makes the atmosphere at the location such as a car and motorbike showroom.

From observations in the field, outside the KPK's Red and White building there is a white Rubicon car with additional variety of stickers bearing the words 'Harley Davidson'. A white tent was established so that the vehicle was protected from heat and rain.

It didn't stop there, near the entrance there were also two cars on display with the Lexus and Mercedes Benz brands. While in the lobby of the building, four Harley Davidson motorbikes were displayed.

"In the context of Hakordia, so that the public can see the items we want to auction. We took several samples that we brought for the Hakordia event because we couldn't immediately bring all of them," said KPK Executing Prosecutor Syarkyah, Friday, December 6.

"There are three cars, four motorbikes, and four bags," he continued.

Sarkyah said the assets that were auctioned when Hakordia came from 13 corruption cases. Among them are gratification and money laundering (TPPU) which ensnared former officials of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) as well as gratuities and money laundering of the former Head of Customs and Excise of Yogyakarta Eko Darmanto.

"Most of Rafael Alun's cases," said Syarkiah.

Rafael Alun's items that were also seized were luxury bags such as Birikin Bag Hermes, Channel, Louis Vuitton. Then there are other assets such as land and buildings.

"The immovable items were all dominated by Rafael Alun, all of his assets were confiscated," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK held an auction of corrupt looted goods in a series of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) which was commemorated on Monday, December 9. In addition to luxury cars and motorbikes as well as bags with various high-end brands, there are also precious metals and jewelry.

These bags are included in the second auction session. The determination of the winner is carried out after the deadline for bidding and must be paid off within five days with an auction fee of 2 percent of the price being knocked out.
