Fleeing From Salemba Rutan Since November 2024, Drug Lord Murtala Cs Has Not Been Arrested

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya and the Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights have not succeeded in arresting Murtala Cs, one of the drug kingpins who managed to escape with 6 drug detainees from the Salemba Rutan by breaking through the iron vent and through the sewers.

"Later we will make sure (we have been arrested or not) we ask for time. I'll check it first, ask for time," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary to VOI at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Thursday night, December 5, 2024.

Murtala Cs allegedly has not been caught by joint officers after successfully escaping from the Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Murtala Ilyas is a drug kingpin of the Malaysia-Medan-Aceh-Jakarta network who was arrested in March 2024. He escaped from the Salemba Rutan along with 6 other prisoners and inmates.

Currently, the case is being handled by the Polda Metro Jaya. However, there has been no official statement submitted by the ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya regarding the escape of 7 detainees and convicts of narcotics cases from the Salemba detention center.

Previously, it was reported that 7 inmates of the Class 1 State Detention Center (Rutan) of Central Jakarta or the Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta, escaped from the detention cell, Tuesday, November 12.

The perpetrators fled through the ventilation locked in the wind hole and crossed the sewers of the water channel.

"The seven detainees and convicts of the drug case are suspected of escaping by breaking into the room's tellis," said Head of the Class I Detention Center of Central Jakarta, Agung Nurbani, Tuesday, November 12.

Currently, the Salemba detention centers and the Ditjenpas as well as the police are pursuing the escaped prisoners and inmates.

"The Central Jakarta Detention Center together with the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) and the police continue to pursue 7 prisoners and escaped inmates," he said.

The 7 detainees who escaped through the culverts were a narcotics network from Aceh with the initials AAK bin R (22), J bin I (29), W bin T (47), MJ bin ZA (42) and M bin I (43).

The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) together with Polda Metro Jaya are investigating the alleged involvement of members of the Ministry of Imipas in the case of seven prisoners escaping from the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Jakarta.

"We are currently conducting an investigation into allegations that members may have been involved during the escape of the detainees," said Immigration and Correctional Minister (Imipas) Agus Andrianto, Friday, November 29.

He said the Head of the Salemba Detention Center and the Head of the Salemba Penitentiary Security Unit (KPLP) had been temporarily disabled and would later be replaced.

Regarding the seven detainees who escaped, Agus said, the Ministry of Imipas together with Polda Metro Jaya continued to pursue them because the detainees had not been found.
