JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) asked the public to be aware of the potential for coastal flooding or tidal flooding in 11 urban villages in North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands region in the next week, namely on January 23-30.

Head of DKI Jakarta BPBD Isnawa Adji said this potential was compiled from information from the BMKG Meteorological Station Class I Maritime Tanjung Priok regarding early warnings of coastal flooding (rob).

The ten areas that have the potential for tidal flooding for the next week are Kamal Muara Village, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok. Then, the Thousand Islands also have the potential to rob.

"The northern coastal area of DKI Jakarta is advised to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water which has the potential for coastal flooding," Isnawa said in his statement, Thursday, January 23.

Based on BMKG information, the potential for tidal flooding this time is due to the phenomenon of maximum tides in conjunction with the new moon phase.

"This phenomenon has the potential to increase the maximum sea level in the form of coastal flooding or tidal flooding in the northern coastal area of Jakarta. The maximum tide peak occurs around 06.00 WIB-11.00 WIB," he explained.

Isnawa said that the DKI Provincial Government carried out a number of tidal flood mitigations on the coast of Jakarta, including alerting blue troop personnel (SDA Task Force) and hundreds of mobile pumps and pump houses in the northern area of Jakarta.

Then, coordinate with BMKG regarding the development of information on early warning of tidal flooding, then with the SDA Service, Gulkarmat Service, Highways Office, Satpol PP and village heads related to the readiness of personnel and equipment such as mobile pumps and stationaries to be ready to function to suck up tidal puddles.

In addition, ensuring evacuation locations as well as supporting facilities and infrastructure for flood management in urban villages prone to tidal flooding such as boats, buyies rings, life jackets, etc., are ready to function to help the community if needed.
