34 Residents' Houses In South Solok Damaged By Strong Winds

SOLOK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Solok Regency, West Sumatra, noted that 34 houses were damaged by strong winds that hit.

Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of South Solok BPBD, Dahrizal, said there were 36 heads of families with 133 people in Koto Parik Gadang Diateh District who were affected by strong winds.

"We have dispatched a team for further data collection and distributed aid in the form of family kits to disaster victims," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 5.

The houses damaged by strong winds were in Jorong (dusun) Batang Lolo as many as six houses plus one school with four families and 17 people.

Furthermore, in Jorong Sungai Rambutan, there were 27 damaged houses with 32 and 116 families affected.

In addition, in Sangir District, a large billboard unit collapsed and hit a nearby shop.

"There are no reports of casualties due to this strong wind," he said.

Secretary of the Social and Community Empowerment Service of Villages/Naigri Ilhamka Yuzid said that he had received reports of houses damaged by strong winds in Koto Parik Gadang Diateh District.

"We are preparing assistance in the form of basic necessities," he said.

Head of Koto Parik Gadang Diateh Sub-district, Soni Patricia, said that her party had collected data on damaged houses and reported them to BPBD and the Social Service.

"Now the wind is still strong, so no community has dared to clean the flying roofs," he said.
