Secretary General Of Golkar: There Is No Signal That Jokowi Will Join The Banyan Party

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Golkar Party Sarmuji said that until now there has been no internal signal if the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo will join the banyan party.

This was said by Sarmuji in response to the possibility of Jokowi getting closer to Golkar after being fired by PDIP.

"Meanwhile, there is no signal yet," Sarmuji told reporters, Thursday, December 5.

According to Sarmuji, Jokowi is currently an independent person so that he is free to make choices. But he believes, Jokowi will take careful consideration to return to the political party.

"That then Pak Jokowi, after weighing and then thinking, then making a choice to Golkar, for example, Golkar will accept it with open arms as well as Golkar accepts other people as well," said Sarmuji.

"We accept ordinary people openly, let alone a former president. A president last period, which we believe has a considerable impact on society," he continued.

Sarmuji said Golkar would not meet Jokowi to offer him to join the party. Moreover, according to him, the relationship between Jokowi and Ketum Golkar Bahlil Lahadalia is quite close so that if there is a signal it will definitely be informed internally.

"Not sure later, the relationship between the general chairman and Pak Jokowi is quite close. Surely if there is a signal that Pak Jokowi wants to get closer to Golkar, we will let people close to him know," he concluded.

Previously, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that Jokowi was no longer part of the party bearing the white-nosed bull symbol.

Not only Jokowi, Hasto said that the Vice President for the 2024-2029 Period, Gibran Rakabuming Raka and former Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution were no longer PDIP cadres.

"I reiterate that Mr. Jokowi and his family are no longer part of the PDI-P," said Hasto at a press conference at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.
