UnitedHealth Insurance CEO Shot Dead, The Perpetrator Is Still Being Hunted

JAKARTA - New York police are still hunting for the dead shooter UnitedHealth insurance CEO Brian Thompson outside a hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The perpetrator was last seen fleeing to Central Park.

Thompson was shot in the back on Wednesday morning by a masked perpetrator. This happened just before the company's annual investor conference at Hilton on Sixth Avenue.

"Investigators have not yet named a suspect and are still looking for a motive," the New York City Police Department said.

This attack is called planned, planned, and targeted.

"It seems this is not an act of random violence," New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters.

Security video footage shows the shooter behind Thompson, 50, lifting his gun and shooting at his back.

Police said the gunman arrived outside the hotel minutes before Thompson and waited for him to pass before firing.

The suspect fled on foot before riding an electric bicycle and driving to Central Park, police said.

Police published a number of photos of suspects taken from video cameras in the area, including one photo with a gun raised and directed at Thompson and another suspect fled on a bicycle.

UnitedHealth is the largest health insurance company in the US, which benefits tens of millions of Americans, who pay more for health services than people in other countries.

Thompson has been CEO of UnitedHealthcare, one of the UnitedHealth Group units, since April 2021.
