JAKARTA - The Legal Team for the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) pair reported the DKI Jakarta Regional General Election Commission and the East Jakarta KPU to the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) due to the low participation of voters in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

A member of the RIDO pair's Legal Team, Muslim Jaya Butar-Butar, said that his party reported to the DKPP on a strong basis that the organizers of the Pilkada in Jakarta were not professional.

In fact, their work resulted in very low voter participation in the Jakarta Pilkada with a percentage of 57 percent. The rest did not vote and did not come to the polling house (TPS).

"We see a violation of the principles of professionalism in holding elections in Jakarta. That's what we report," he said.

The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) is said to be able to ensure good public services to voters.

"What is the service like? Of course this is related to the large number of C6 or notification letters for voting not being properly distributed to the public," he said.

This, he continued, was part of the failed work of the Jakarta KPU as the organizer of the regional elections in Jakarta. More specifically, it was also a failure for the East Jakarta KPU.

Based on his records, many polling stations in East Jakarta with low voter participation, even less than 30 percent. This means that in each polling station there are hundreds of voter rights owners who cannot vote.

This concerns the DKI KPU that it must guarantee services to the community. They must ensure that the public gets C6 notifications.

"According to our sampling, especially in East Jakarta, the average in several urban villages has only 30 percent participation. If there are 580 DPT per TPS, there are most likely 300 to 400 people who do not exercise their right to vote," said Muslim.

The sample, said Muslim, was only in East Jakarta. However, he suspects the same thing happened throughout Jakarta which led to voter participation in Jakarta, which was only 57 percent.

This figure also ranks the Jakarta Pilkada this time as the Pilkada with the lowest voter participation during the implementation of the Pilkada in Jakarta.

"There are 43 percent of voter rights owners who do not come to polling stations. If converted into voters, the number of voters is millions," he said.

Especially in East Jakarta alone, Muslims revealed, there are approximately 1.4 million voters who do not exercise their voting rights. He is sure, among the 1.4 million voters, there are Ridwan Kamil-Suswono pair voters who cannot exercise voting rights because they do not receive C6.

If they don't get C6 notifications, how can they choose? If the question is reversed, for example, you can use an ID card," he said.

Now the question, he said, has the DKI KPU done well in the field, that if you don't get a notification, you can use your ID card? "The DKI KPU must socialize well," he said.

If these tasks have been carried out properly, Muslims believe voters' participation in Jakarta will not drop drastically as it is today.

However, data and facts show that nearly half of the 8.2 million voting rights owners in Jakarta did not come to the TPS. This condition is clearly very worrying considering that the Pilkada this time was held in all regions and Jakarta has become an area with low participation.

"What is certain is that reports come to us that the public, voters who love the RIDO pair. They did not get C6 notifications," he said.
