KPU Schedules 2025 Re-Pilkada Between September 24 Or August 27

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has proposed two options for the 2025 re-Pilkada schedule, which is between September 24 or August 27, 2025.

Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Mochammad Afifuddin said the two schedules were designed by considering the efficiency of the preparation and implementation stages in accordance with statutory regulations.

"We were presented with two scenarios or two options. The first is the choice of re-voting on September 24, 2025, the second is on August 27, 2025," Afifuddin said in a working meeting with Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Wednesday, December 4.

"What is preferred by the Indonesian KPU, of course, needs approval from this forum, is related to the concept of the re-election stage on September 24, 2025," he continued.

Afif said, if the September 24, 2025 option is approved, the Pilkada preparation stage can start in March 2025. Meanwhile, the campaign period is planned to last for one month, from August to September.

"We have also summarized this or shortened it," said Afifuddin.

As for the re-Pilkada option on August 27, 2025, Afif explained, the KPU planning and preparation stages will begin at the end of February 2025.

The 2025 re-cash elections are to anticipate the victory of the empty box in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada, for example based on the results of the quick count of survey institutions in Bangka and Pangkalpinang.

The certainty of the 2025 re-cash is awaiting the KPU's decision regarding the results of the real vote count scheduled for December 16, 2024.
