Tomorrow, the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Laliin Monas Area to Dukuh Atas is Engineered from Morning to Night

JAKARTA - The Transportation Office (Dishub) of the DKI Jakarta Province has prepared traffic engineering in the Monas area to Dukuh Atas during the celebration of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday, August 17, 2026. Vehicle flow arrangements will be carried out on a situational basis following a series of events, ranging from flag parades, independence ceremonies, to people's parties and carnival of decorated vehicles.

A total of 500 Dishub officers were on standby to manage traffic at a number of points that could experience congestion. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also appealed to the public who wanted to go to the event location to use public transportation and avoid the road sections that were the location of the activities.

"We are preparing situational traffic arrangements so that the entire series of celebrations for the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia can take place safely and orderly. We appeal to the public to adjust their travel, follow the instructions of officers in the field, and if they go to the location of the activity, we strongly recommend using public transportation," said Head of DKI Jakarta Police, Budi Awaluddin, in a statement, Sunday, August 16.

Budi said that the diversion of vehicle traffic would be implemented according to the time of implementation of each agenda. The first traffic engineering took place during the Kirab of the Delivery of the Pusaka Flag and the Proklamasi Minute Ceremony at 07.30-11.30 WIB.

During this period, a number of affected sections include Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran I, Jalan Veteran II, Jalan Veteran III, and Jalan Majapahit on the east side from north to south.

The re-arrangement was carried out in the afternoon during the Red and White Flag Lowering Ceremony and the Return of the Heritage Flag Ceremony at 16.30-18.30 WIB.

In addition to the state agenda in the Monas area, Dishub also prepared traffic arrangements for the People's Party which lasted until the evening. The activity was held from 08.00-23.00 WIB and had the potential to affect vehicle movement around the center of Jakarta.

In the evening, traffic flow was adjusted again during the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which was enlivened by the Carnival of Decorative Vehicles. The carnival will move from the Monas area to Dukuh Atas by crossing the east side of Jalan M.H. Thamrin, the roundabout of Hotel Indonesia, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman on the east side, to Jalan Galunggung - Dukuh Atas Skatepark Park.

Dishub has prepared a number of alternative routes for affected road users. People from the direction of Harmony to Tugu Tani, for example, are directed through Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, Jalan Pos, Jalan Gedung Kesenian, Jalan Lapangan Banteng, to Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais.

Meanwhile, road users from Harmoni to Karet can use an alternative route through Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, Jalan Suryopranoto, Jalan Balikpapan, Jalan Cideng Timur, to Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur.

During the series of activities, public transportation services also underwent adjustments. Transjakarta, which crosses the affected area, will change its operating pattern and modify the track following the traffic conditions on the ground.

To support citizen mobility, the government has prepared 21 parking locations around the Monas area to Dukuh Atas with a total capacity of 20,578 parking space units (SRP). This capacity consists of 12,295 SRP cars, 8,186 SRP motorcycles, and 97 SRP buses.

On the day of the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian Republic, the Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta services also have a special tariff of Rp8 from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB.

"With the availability of public transportation services and parking locations, we hope that people can plan their trips from the beginning. Please continue to pay attention to traffic regulation information and follow the instructions of officers so that the trip remains safe and comfortable," said Budi.

DKI Jakarta's Dishub asked road users, including long-distance train passengers who will get on or off at Gambir Station, to take into account the travel time. The public is asked to comply with traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers during the arrangement.
