JAKARTA - The defendant in the case of false oath Ike Farida was sentenced to five months in prison. The trial for reading this verdict was held at the South Jakarta District Court (PN), Tuesday, December 3.

Ike Farida was found legally and convincingly guilty of committing the crime of false oath in accordance with Article 242 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

"The verdict, stated that the defendant Ike Farida was guilty of committing a criminal act of false oath, sentenced the defendant to five months in prison," said the Chief Justice when reading the verdict.

The verdict of the Panel of Judges is lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) who charged the defendant Ike Farida with 1.5 years in prison.

Before the trial began, the masses on behalf of the Legal Concerned People's Solidarity (SRPH) held a demonstration in front of the South Jakarta District Court.

The protesters asked the Panel of Judges who tried this case to decide objectively and not to be provoked by opinions.

"We ask the panel of judges to decide in accordance with the legal facts revealed in court and not to be consumed by opinions developed by the defendant who always corner the police, the prosecutor and the judge," said the representative of the mass action, Fandi.

Meanwhile, the defendant Ike Farida stated that she would appeal the verdict handed down by the Panel of Judges.

"Your Majesty, I declare that I will appeal," said Ike.

Ike Farida's attorney, Agustrias Andika, admitted that he was disappointed with the decision of the South Jakarta District Court Judges.

"We make sure we will appeal, because Ike Farida has never been present in court and has never been sworn in. All oaths are carried out by her attorney," said Agustrias.
