JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Pariwisata (KAI Wisata) will provide Java Priority Train services in a series of Extraordinary Trains (KLB) specifically for the Christmas 2024 period and New Year 2025 for the Jakarta - Yogyakarta route and the opposite direction.

The Java Priority Train is taken from the word 'Java' which refers to Java Island as a symbol of culture, progress, connectivity, and becomes the location of the train operating. Meanwhile, the 'Priority' shows KAI's commitment to services that prioritize comfort and timeliness.

"The Java Priority Train will use the means of one dining train, two imperial trains, and five priority trains which are currently partnered with the Bogowonto Train, Brawijaya, Fajar Utama Yogyakarta, Gajahwong, Manahan and Senja Utama Yogyakarta," said KAI Tourism President Director Hendy Helmy as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 3.

"(The train) is combined in the KLB series with a total of 190 passengers every one trip".

The Java Priority Train will operate from 19 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.

The routes served by the train are Gambir Station - Yogyakarta (PP) with Gambir departure time (12.45 WIB) and arrival of Yogyakarta (20.25 WIB). For the opposite direction, the train departs from Yogyakarta (23.40 WIB) and Gambir arrival (07.10 WIB).

Not only passenger transport trains, but the Java Priority Train has a seat capacity of up to 30 seats. Interestingly, each passenger seat is equipped with a folding table and a power pocket that can be used during the trip, as well as several other leading facilities.

"This trip is specifically for Free Independent Travelers (FIT) passengers and can directly book 'Java Priority' Train tickets through the Access by KAI application," said Hendy.

According to Hendy, the Gambir - Yogyakarta relationship for Java Priority was chosen because both of them became one of the favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia, including foreign tourists.

Throughout January - September 2024, Yogyakarta Station recorded the highest departure for foreign tourists reaching 103,353 passengers, followed by Gambir Station with 82,997 passengers.

In addition, travel train passengers continued to increase during January - October 2024 with 121,374 passengers. This figure increased by 73.77 percent compared to the same period in January - October 2023, with 69,845 passengers.
