Sanctions for F-Gerindra Member who Alluded to Naturalization, MKD DPR: To Encourage the Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - The Honorary Court of the Council imposed a light sanction in the form of a written warning to a member of the DPR from the Gerindra faction, Nuroji, as a result of his statement alluding to the naturalization of the Indonesian football team.

Deputy Chairman of the DPR MKD Agung Widyantoro said the sanction was given in order to maintain the honor of the council and encourage the Indonesian national team who are currently struggling in world cup qualifiers.

Agung explained that Nuroji admitted that his mistake was due to the use of diction and narratives that discriminated against naturalized players.

Where in the video content of the meeting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, he felt that he was not too proud of the victory of the Indonesian national team, which in fact had many naturalized players.

"So trying to make differentiations, yes, the difference between the own village children and those that have been naturalized," said Agung after the DPR MKD session, Tuesday, December 3.

Agung emphasized that the decision to naturalize national team players has become the government's decision. So that it becomes a policy that of course must be jointly secured, including members of the DPR.

"And this is also for the sake, in addition to the dignity of the honor of the DPR and members, this is also for us to encourage our national team, which is currently achieving peak achievements," said Agung.

"And God willing, we pray that until the end a maximum victory, as our president hopes. And there is a good intention of the president to further strengthen this national team," he added.

According to Agung, Nuroji should have used a wiser diction and narrative, not bringing down naturalized players. Moreover, the player of Indonesian descent in the Netherlands is also wholeheartedly defending the Garuda national team.

"Or what is the term because they are happy, still enthusiastic, don't lower that spirit. I think so and it has been recognized by the defendant. From that confession, it means that the defendant feels guilty. And we have the decision as read out by the noble chairman," he concluded.
