CIANJUR - The government is preparing to relocate residents affected by the movable land disaster that hit Sukaraja Village and Wargansari Village, Kadupandak District, Cianjur Regency, last Friday.
Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, announced this step when he visited the affected location in Sukaraja Village on Monday, December 2.
This relocation is the result of a field study involving BNPB, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java Province, the Cianjur Regency BPBD, and a number of related agencies.
"The results of a joint review with PVMBG and Forkopimda show that damaged houses are no longer habitable because the soil conditions are very vulnerable," explained Suharyanto. He emphasized the importance of relocating affected houses for the safety of residents.
The village head has provided land for relocation, so this process is expected to start as soon as data collection is complete. "If the data collection goes fast, with less houses, the relocation will be accelerated," he added.
Suharyanto also revealed two options for residents during the relocation waiting period. First, temporary housing * which is built specifically for affected residents and then residential waiting funds amounting to Rp. 500,000 per month for six months, with a total of Rp. 3 million per family, for residents who choose to stay temporarily at relatives' homes.
The Dandim and the local police chief have been asked to assist in the construction of temporary and permanent housing.
This movable land disaster has an impact on three villages in two sub-districts, namely Sukaraja Village and Wargansari Village in Kadupandak District and Waringinsari Village in Takokak District.
