TANJUNG SELOR Chairman of the North Kalimantan DPRD (Kaltara), Ahmad Djufri, gave a positive response regarding the discourse of removing the New Student Admission zoning system (PPDB).

This discourse was previously proposed by Vice President (Wapres) Rakabuming Raka to the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti.

According to Achmad Djufrie, the zoning system that has been implemented so far is not suitable for Kaltara.

"We support the elimination of this zoning, even though it is already running, it is still constrained, especially access to education in areas that are not evenly distributed," he said, Monday, December 2.

He explained, Kaltara Province with a very wide area has difficulty implementing the zoning system.

Many students cannot access schools close to where they live, said Djufrie.

So far, the zoning system cannot be implemented in certain areas. If the PPDB zoning system is returned to the old system, the community will definitely accept it," he added.

The Kaltara DPRD, continued Djufrie, is still waiting for the central government's decision to remove or not this zoning system.

"The zoning system has gone through a study before it is implemented and even if it will be deleted, of course, it will also be through academic studies and careful considerations," he said.

Zoning is one of the selection systems in PPDB based on student domicile. This system originally aims to create equitable quality and access to schools and education.

The Zoning PPDB system is still struggling with the same problem, namely the uneven distribution of public schools in the regions.
