KIM's Dominance In Java Becomes Prabowo's Political Investment In 2029

JAKARTA BRIN political researcher, Wasisto Raharjo Jati assessed that the dominance of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) in the gubernatorial election in the Java region could become a political investment in Prabowo Subianto and the Gerindra Party in facing the 2029 election.

This is because the regional head from KIM can take advantage of the budget from the center to maintain the mass base and increase electability for five years, either through implementing policies, budget transfers, and infrastructure development.

In addition, KIM's dominance in the gubernatorial election in the Java region is also an alarm for the PDI-P who won the last three elections.

"If Prabowo Subianto's performance during his tenure as president is good and Gerindra is able to organize his ranks neatly, then they have the opportunity to win the legislative and even the 2029 presidential election," said Wasisto, Sunday, December 1, 2024.

According to him, PDIP must work extra hard in the face of the upcoming 2029 Pileg and Presidential Elections. Moreover, the political party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri may only rely on Pramono Anung-Rano Karno as a PDIP representative in the executive/gubernur and deputy governor domains in the Java region.

"Can PDIP take advantage of the victory in Jakarta to increase self-confidence in its position? I think it will be difficult because administratively and constitutionally, governors and deputy governors will obey and obey the president's direction," added Wasisto.

As is known, from the results of the Kompas R&D quick calculation, the candidate pair of regional heads promoted by KIM was able to win four gubernatorial elections in Java. In East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Dardak won 58.53 percent of the votes, ahead of Tri Rismaharini-Zahrul Azhar Asumta (33.04 percent) and Luluk Nur Hamidah-Lukman Khakim (8.43 percent) based on the results of the Kompas R&D quick count.

In the Central Java gubernatorial election, the pair Ahmad Luthfi-Taj Yasin Maimoen won around 59.41 percent compared to the competitors, Andika Perkasa-Hendrar Prihadi who only got around 40.59 percent. In West Java, from the results of LSI Denny JA's quick count, the Dedi Mulyadi-Erwan Setiawan pair received 62.22 percent of the votes, far ahead of their closest competitor, Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Akbar Habibie, who was only 18.28 percent.

Meanwhile, what was considered the most surprising was in the Banten Gubernatorial Election, where LSI Denny JA recorded the Andra Soni-Achmad Dimyati Narakusumah pair ahead of Airin Rachmi Diany-Ade Sumardi with 55.21 percent compared to 44.79 percent of the vote.
