Proven Adultery, Civil Servants And Honorers In Aceh Punished Whips

Convicted of islamic sharia violations serving a flogging sentence in Aceh Tamiang / Antara

JAKARTA - Aceh Tamiang State Prosecutor's Office (Kejari) executed the flogging of three Islamic sharia violators who were convicted by a panel of judges of the Kuala Simpang Sharia Court.

The execution of the whip took place in the backyard of the Aceh Tamiang Islamic Center Building in Kuala Simpang, Monday, April 12. The execution took place in front of a large crowd.

Head of The General Crime Section (Pidum) Kejari Aceh Tamiang Mariono said of the three convicted, two of them served 100 lashes each.

"There are three convicted men who undergo whiplash. Two in the case of adultery, whipped 100 times each and another in the case of takzir, were sentenced to 18 lashes for providing gambling premises," Mariono said.

The three convicted are Muis Syahputra (43) civil servant status and Sumanti (43) honorer employee status. Both were convicted by a panel of judges of the Kuala Simpang Sharia Court in adultery with a sentence of 100 lashes each.

As well as Nasib Suhery (52), a private employee, was convicted in a takzir case or as a provider of gambling venues with a penalty of 18 lashes after being cut to a two-month prison term.

"The convicted were convicted of violating Qanun Aceh Number 6 year 2014 on jinayat law. This execution was carried out after the verdict had a fixed legal force," Mariono said.
