Ministry Of Imipas Investigate Involvement Of Members Related To Prisoners Escape From Salemba Rutan

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) together with Polda Metro Jaya are investigating the alleged involvement of members of the Ministry of Imipas in the case of seven prisoners escaping from the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Jakarta.

"We are currently conducting an investigation into allegations that members may have been involved during the escape of the detainees," said Immigration and Correctional Minister (Imipas) Agus Andrianto as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 29.

He said the Head of the Salemba Detention Center and the Head of the Salemba Penitentiary Security Unit (KPLP) had been temporarily disabled and would later be replaced.

Regarding the seven detainees who escaped, Agus said, the Ministry of Imipas together with Polda Metro Jaya continued to pursue them because the detainees had not been found.

On Thursday (14/11), the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) of the Ministry of Imipas and Commission XIII of the House of Representatives agreed to form a working committee (panja) to resolve the case of seven prisoners and inmates of the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Central Jakarta who fled.

Acting (Plt.) Director General (Dirjen) PAS Y. Ambeg Paramarta is committed to resolving this incident. According to him, Minister Imipas also has a strong passion and commitment to improvement in the prison environment.

It is known that seven drug convicts escaped by breaking into their rooms at the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/11) in the early hours of the morning.

They are known to have escaped from detention at around 07.50 WIB. At that time the Salemba Rutan was handing over the guard between the night guard team and those who would be on duty in the morning.

Head of the Correctional Division of the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office, Tonny Nainggolan, said the seven people, among others, AAK bin R (22), J bin I (29), W bin T (47), MJ bin ZA (42), M bin I (43), MAU bin S (30), and AS bin N (27).

"From the search results, there is one who has become a prisoner while the other six people are still convicts," said Tonny.
