Facing Rainy Season, BPBD Ensures Disaster Evacuation Equipment Is Ready For Use

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) ensures that all disaster evacuation equipment in Bengkulu City is in good condition and ready to be used, especially in conditions of rainfall that occurs.

Bengkulu City BPBD Head of Emergency and Logistics Denny Martin said five rubber boats, three of which were in good condition, and two other units needed repairs.

"The fiber boat, BPBD has five units, all of which are in good condition, BPBD also has three water pumps, all of which are functioning properly," he said in Bengkulu, Tuesday, November 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

Then, the Bengkulu City BPBD also has three generator units ready for use and 15 tent units divided into three types, namely family tents, post tents, and medium tents.

Denny continued, in the operational vehicle sector, the Bengkulu City BPBD has three double cabin pick-up cars, one water tanker, one multipurpose truck, and one tractor unit.

In addition, BPBD has also prepared monitoring posts in the office and patrol teams to monitor conditions at flood-prone points.

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu City BPBD alerted 51 members to anticipate disasters such as floods and others ahead of the vote on the implementation of the November 27, 2024 regional head election (Pilkada).

Denny explained that the members or personnel would later be alerted in the office with a periodic turn of tasks.

"Members of BPBD do not standby at the location of the polling station (TPS), they will act according to their needs based on the incident report. Our members are on standby per incident. We also have 24-hour picket officers at the BPBD office with 12 officers in four shifts," he said.

The picket officer will receive and submit a report to the task force in the event of a disaster, so that other teams will go directly to the location to carry out the handling.

A total of 51 members will be divided into four groups, with details of three teams consisting of all men to take to the field and one team of women on duty in public kitchens.
