Protests Toll Names Replaced Mohammed Bin Zayed, The Zon Zone: His Services For What Nation?

JAKARTA - Jakarta-Cikampek 2 Elevated Toll Road has been officially renamed MBZ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Expressway today, Monday, April 12.

MBZ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Flyover is named after an Abu Dhabi crown prince and deputy commander-in-chief of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) armed forces.

Vice Chairman of Gerindra Fadli Zon Party participated in the vote on the renaming of the toll road. Fadli questioned what sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed's services were so enshrined as a toll road in Indonesia.

"What is the service of Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) to Indonesia? Is there no name of our hero who contributes to this nation that we can appreciate n respect to be the name of the street?," Fadli said on his twitter page, @fadlizon, Monday, April 12.

Fadli mentioned that this name change is not appropriate considering that MBS is still foreign to the public' s ears. He suggested that the government look for a replacement name.

"Sy proposal to be reviewed the name of this street," explained Fadli Zon who now sits on Commission I dpr ri.

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno said mbz's name was known to the Indonesian public after President Jokowi entrusted him to become chairman of the steering board for the construction of the new capital.

"Indonesia-UAE diplomatic relations have been running for a long time since 1976. In the future, the government hopes to continue to extend this bilateral relationship, especially in terms of investment withdrawal," Pratikno said in an Instagram account post @bpjt_info, quoted by VOI, Monday, April 12.

This expressway is an access to separate the movement of short-distance commuters Jakarta - Bekasi - Cikarang (collector/existing lanes) with long-distance movement to Cirebon. Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya (express/flyover lanes), in particular, class I non-buses.

For MBZ Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Flyover has been opened and can be operated again starting at 10.00 WIB. After previously closed temporarily at 05.00 WIB.
