Russia Will Not Allow The United States To Silence UN Security Council

JAKARTA - Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the United States to silence the UN Security Council.

This was conveyed by the Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya, following the United States' veto on the UN DK resolution plan regarding the immediate cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

"We will continue to stand firm to end violence against Palestine. Without hesitation, we will continue to uncover US violations andologies in dealing with this situation," Ambassador Nebenzya said, launching TASS November 21.

The United States on Wednesday vetoed a UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire in Israel's war in Gaza, accusing council members of cynically rejecting efforts to achieve compromise.

The 15-member council held a resolution vote submitted by 10 non-permanent members, in a meeting calling for an "independent, unconditional and permanent ceasefire", separately demanding the release of hostages.

Only the US voted against it, using its veto rights as a permanent member of the council to block the resolution.

"We will not allow America to silence the entire council with their hands in a bid to push for further continuation of Israel's cruel operations," Ambassador Nebenzya.

According to Nebenzya, the Security Council must " bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East."

"No one, including the United States and other tolerant Western representatives, has the right to hinder this legitimate aspiration," the Russian diplomat said.

This is the fifth time the United States has blocked a resolution calling for a Gaza ceasefire since the start of an escalation in October last year. The US also blocked the granting of full membership to the Palestinians at the United Nations.

Separately, a senior US official who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity before the vote said the US would only support a resolution explicitly calling for the immediate release of hostages as part of the ceasefire.

"As we have stated many times before, we cannot support an unconditional ceasefire that does not call for immediate release of hostages," the official said.
