Bawaslu Claims Not To Recommend The Cancellation Of The Wahdi-Qomaru Paslon In The Metro City Election

BANDARLAMPUNG - Bawaslu Lampung said that his party had never recommended the cancellation of the candidate pair (palon) for the mayor and deputy mayor of Metro number 02 Wahdi- Qomaru Zaman to the General Election Commission (KPU) Metro.

"We have never given a recommendation to cancel the mayor-deputy mayor-deputy pair to the KPU," said Head of Lampung Bawaslu Iskardo P Panggar, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 21.

However, he said that the supervisory staff only forwarded the decision letter of the Metro District Court on the candidate for deputy mayor of Metro Qomaru Zaman.

"We are only continuing the decision of the Metro District Court," he said.

He said that his party would review the decision of the Metro KPU which disqualified the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor number 02 from the 2024 Metro Pilkada contestation.

"We are still reviewing the decision of the Metro City KPU which decided that the Metro Pilkada would only be followed by a single candidate," he said.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Metro City, Lampung Province canceled the candidacy for the mayor and deputy mayor candidate number 02 dr. Wahdi, Sp.O G(K)., MH - Drs. Qomaru Zaman, MA.

The Metro City KPU in its official statement, Wednesday, said that this was based on or following up on the Metro City Bawaslu Letter Number 305/PP.00.02/men's.00A-15/11/2024 dated November 10, 2024 Regarding the Introductory Letter and Copy of the Metro City District Court Decision Number 191/Pid.Sus/2024/PN.Met dated November 1, 2024.

The decision states that Drs. Qomaru Zaman, MA Bin M. Kasiro was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of "election" as stated in the single indictment of the public prosecutor (election criminal offense by being subject to sanctions for canceling the candidate pair).

Then, impose a fine on the defendant in the amount of Rp. 6,000,000.00 (six million rupiah) provided that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 1 (one) month.

On that basis, the Metro City KPU canceled the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor of Metro number 2 (two) on behalf of Candidate Mayor dr. Wahdi, Sp.OG(K)., MH and Drs. Qomaru Zaman, MA.

Then, do not include the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor of Metro City number 2 (two) in the 2024 Metro Pilkada.

The Metro City KPU announced the cancellation of Candidate Pair Number 2 (Two) based on the Decree of the General Election Commission of Metro City on the official website or social media of the Metro City KPU.

The cancellation resulted in only 1 (one) candidate pair who met the requirements as election participants in accordance with Chapter XI letter A number 5 of General Election Commission Decree Number 1229 of 2024 concerning Technical Guidelines for Registration, Research on Candidate Administration Requirements, and Determination of Candidate Pairs in the Election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors.

The city of Metro previously had two pairs of candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor consisting of Bambang Rafieq pair number 1 and Wahdi Qomaru pair, number 2 in the upcoming 2024 Pilkada.
