KKB Behind Papua Terror Act

JAKARTA - Armed criminal groups (KKB) are again spreading terror on Papuan soil. They shot a teacher and set fire to several educational buildings.

The shooting took place in Julukoma Village, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, on Thursday, April 8.

The victim was Oktovianus Rayo, 42, who was a teacher. He was shot twice while guarding the kiosk at about 09:30 western Indonesia time.

Papua Police Chief Gen. Insp. Mathius D. Fakhiri said based on the investigation of the suspected perpetrators of the shooting Sabinus Waker group was heading to Ilaga at the invitation of Legakak Telenggen.

"So could this group shoot the teachers that we protect and guard because they are the ones who educate Papuan human resources," Gen. Insp. Fakhiri said in a written statement.

"I as the Chief of Police strongly condemn this action and we will take law enforcement measures against the perpetrators. Until now the situation can still be controlled because it is assisted by all levels of society such as religious leaders and church leaders," he continued.

Currently, the Papua Police is preparing a force to go to Ilaga to crack down on THE KKB.

"I hope there is intervention from the head of the region to solve this problem so that non-Ilaga people can be expelled from the area," he continued.

In addition, Papua police will send 1 platoon of organic Brimob to Beoga to backup Beoga police. The goal is to provide security while hunting down the perpetrators.

"We will also separate the immigrant communities helped by religious leaders in Beoga District because they see the threat from the KKB that makes people feel afraid. I am grateful to the religious leaders there who have a conscience to see educators or teachers who feel scared so they are the ones who help the security forces," Gen. Insp. Fakhiri said in a written statement, Saturday, April 10.

Actually, the indigenous people of Beoga and KKB continued Gen. Insp. Fakhiri can be distinguished. Therefore, the Papua Police also sent a team from Nemangkawi to ensure the handling of the KKB that spread the terror of shooting citizens.

"To be able to really get a measured and well-shot target so that these Criminal groups can be addressed immediately," he said.

Not only shooting a teacher, but Sabinus Waker group also burned several educational buildings. It is recorded that three schools were burned down and one teacher's house.

Head of Public Relations of Papua Police, Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal said that the four schools burned were elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels. "Four buildings were burned Jambul Elementary School, State 1 Junior High School, Beoga 1 Senior High School, and the teacher's house," said Grand Commissioner Kamal.

According to witnesses, the arson occurred on Thursday, April 8 at around 6:15 p.m. The perpetrator is Sabinus Waker.

"At this time joint personnel is still pursuing the Armed Criminal Group that carried out the arson," he said.

"We will take law enforcement measures against the perpetrators," he continued.
