3 Workers Died During Car Trial At South Korean Hyundai Factory

JAKARTA - South Korean authorities conducted an investigation after three workers died during a test or car test at a Hyundai Motor factory in the city of Ulsan, South Korea.

Three people were killed including two Hyundai researchers who were involved in car testing at the Hyundai factory.

Police officers told Reuters they and the Ministry of Manpower were investigating the incident. The three were found unconscious in the car while they were testing the car in a "room", according to a union official.

Media reports said the three of them had collapsed. Meanwhile, a company spokesman has not commented.

The Ulsan plant is Hyundai's largest manufacturing facility, with its own port and annual production capacity of 1.4 million vehicles, including exports of 1.1 million units.

In November 2023, Hyundai Motor started the construction of a 2 trillion won (1.44 billion US dollars) factory in Ulsan dedicated to the manufacture of electric vehicles (EVs) in South Korea, along with the acceleration of the transition from gasoline-powered cars.
