JAKARTA - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo explained the development of the handling of flash flood disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Currently, the death toll stands at 165. Meanwhile, 45 people are still missing.

Doni explained that there is an improvement in ntt flood victim data. There were three people who had previously been declared dead. However, based on the recheck, it turns out that they are still alive.

"Rote Ndao initially reported that there were two who died turned out to be reports from the Regent who died nil, including Ngada who originally one person died was still alive," Doni said in a virtual press conference, Friday, April 9.

Based on the reports received, the death toll spread in East Flores Regency as many as 71 people, Malacca 6 people, Lembata 46 people, Ende 1 person, Sabu Raijua 2, Alor 28 people, Kupang 4 people, Sikka 1 person, Kupang City 4 people, and Ende 1 person.

"While still missing in East Flores there are 5 people, Lembata 22 people, Sabu Raijua 5 people, and Alor 13 people," he said.

In addition, a total of 156 people were injured and 17,834 people were displaced. A total of 2,595 houses were severely damaged, 225 houses were moderately damaged, 5,502 homes were lightly damaged.

"Then there are 17 drift houses, 60 submerged houses, 40 road access covered with fallen trees, 5 broken bridges, 87 public facilities affected, and 1 ship sinking," explained Doni.

The search and evacuation in the field was conducted from various elements such as Basarnas, TNI, Polri, sar combined, volunteers and local residents. Heavy terrain and field conditions and lack of heavy equipment hamper operations in the field.
