Police Shoot Motorcycle Thief Who Injured Officers While In Action In Cengkareng

JAKARTA - The police were forced to shoot dead the perpetrator of the motorcycle theft (curanmor), on Jalan Nangka 1, West Cengkareng Village, West Jakarta (Jakbar). The shooting was carried out because the perpetrator fought and attacked police officers with firearms (senpi). In fact, in that incident one policeman was shot by the perpetrator who was carrying a gun.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Zain Dwi Nugroho explained, one of the perpetrators with the initials A tried to escape when the motorcycle theft was ambushed by the police.

At the time of the incident the police were able to arrest the RDS perpetrator who acted as a jockey. Meanwhile, A managed to escape.

"The officers were forced to take decisive action measured towards the perpetrator's chest until the perpetrator fell down, then the officers immediately took the perpetrator to Kramat Jati Hospital. However, the perpetrator's life could not be saved (died)," said Zain in his statement, Friday, November 15.

As previously reported, Aiptu Wiratama, a member of the police unit of the Ranmor Satreskrim Polres Metro Tangerang Kota, was rushed to the hospital. He suffered a gunshot wound while trying to catch a motorcycle thief on Jalan Nangka 1, Cengkareng Barat, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Thursday, November 14, at 14:40 WIB.

"Officers were shot. One of the perpetrators of the theft tried to fight back when he was about to be ambushed," said the Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Zain Dwi Nugroho, in his statement, Thursday, November 14, 2024.

The victim is currently still undergoing medical treatment. The wound obtained is the left leg of the thigh.

"He was shot in the thigh of his left leg. Currently, he is still in medical treatment," he said.

Luckily one of the perpetrators was caught. Unfortunately one other perpetrator managed to escape.

"We managed to secure one perpetrator. For the chronology of the incident, we will convey it further," he concluded.
