JAKARTA - Dozens of traders in Pasar Kebon Melati Jalan Sabeni Raya RT 1 RW 12 or commonly known as Pasar Kambing have returned to sell in temporary stalls, after the fire that struck on Thursday, April 8, afternoon around 4:50 p.m.

One of the vegetable traders, Ulung (41), sells his wares, such as kale, spinach, and basil in a temporary stall, ex-fire.

"It's temporary yes here first. It's also a borrowed tarpaulin with a friend. Yes start again from scratch," said Ulung when met at Pasar Kebon Melati, Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, April 9.

Another trader, Wawan (32), sells tofu, bean sprouts, and tempeh, on the side of Jalan Sabeni Raya. Previously, he and his two bosses sold in the middle stall of Kebon Melati Market.

Wawan also told me that when the fire broke out, he had just opened a kiosk, and arranged merchandise. In fact, at least he spent up to Rp5 million to trade tofu and tempeh.

The loss did not include a two-story kiosk, where he sheltered and spent the night, along with contents such as refrigerators and televisions, which were also devoured by the red master.

"Didn't have time to bring anything. Just the T-shirt I'm wearing now. Because it's a two-story rented kiosk there is quite a refrigerator too. It's all burned down," Wawan said.

Wawan and his boss who have been trading for decades also trade with basic equipment, such as chicken egg crates taken from other traders.

He hopes that the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta and PD Pasar Jaya will always be able to reorganize the market so that traders can return to selling normally.
