JAKARTA - The Chancellor of the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta for the 1998-2002 period, Prof. Dr. Ichlasul Amal MA, passed away, Thursday, November 14. His body will be buried this afternoon at the Sawitsari UGM cemetery, Yogyakarta.

Ichlasul Amal died at the Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPI) Jakarta this morning at around 02.40 WIB. His body was flown to Yogyakarta this morning to be buried in the cemetery of UGM lecturers' families and professors in Sawit Sari.

The Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas'udi, said that before being buried, Ichlasul Amal's body would be buried first at Balairung UGM Central Building for the last tribute from the UGM extended family.

"Certainly above 14.00 WIB, this morning the body was being brought from Jakarta," he said.

Prof. Ichlasul Amal is known to be a highly dedicated figure in the world of education, especially in advancing UGM. During his tenure as Chancellor, he was known to be friendly to students and supported the student movement during the 1998 Reformation.

UGM Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia expressed his deep sorrow over the departure of Prof. Ichlasul Amal. According to him, the deceased has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of UGM's education and international network.
