JAKARTA - Surakarta Sebelas Maret University (UNS) student Muhammad Yazid Ar-Rasyid initiated cloudy water cleaning products as an effort to provide clean water for the community.

The idea is aimed especially at areas in the city of Surakarta that still lack access to clean water.

He brought the idea when he participated in the WRITING National Essay competition organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Yogyakarta Veterans UPN Industrial Technology Faculty recently.

He said the topic he raised in the essay was the Making of Selulosa Asatat with the name Celltane products.

"With cellulose membrane-based technology, Celltane is expected to be a sustainable solution in meeting clean water needs and in line with the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially on the 6th point which focuses on clean water and sanitation is feasible for all," said Yazid in Solo, Central Java, Antara, Sunday, November 10.

In the competition, Yazid presented the concepts and benefits of Celltane innovation in front of the judges and competed with ten other finalists from various universities.

"At this stage, I present how Celltane has the potential to be a practical and economical solution to deal with the clean water crisis in rural areas," he said.

In the competition, the student of the Chemical Engineering Study Program (Prodi), Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, won second place.

He hopes that his achievements can inspire other students to continue to create innovative works that are beneficial to the community.
