JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has again proposed 16 names to be awarded the title of national hero in commemoration of Heroes' Day which falls on November 10, 2024.

This was conveyed after attending a national pilgrimage ceremony in commemoration of Heroes' Day 2024 at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP), South Jakarta, on Sunday, November 10.

"As in previous years, the Ministry of Social Affairs proposed 16 names to the President through the title council. Later, the Dewan Degree will report to the President, and six of the 16 names will be selected," said Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Syaifullah Yusuf, or who is familiarly called Gus Ipul.

However, in 2024, the Ministry of Social Affairs is still waiting for a decision from President Prabowo Subianto who is on a working visit abroad.

"Yes, of course we have to wait for a decision from the President. Later, after going through the consideration of the title council, only 16 names will be determined to be given the title as national heroes," said Gus Ipul.

Gus Ipul also revealed several important messages from President Prabowo regarding the meaning of this year's National Hero's Day. He conveyed the theme of the commemoration of National Hero's Day 2024 is "Teladani Pahlawanmu, Cintai Negerimu."

Through this theme, President Prabowo reminded the Indonesian people to emulate the struggle of the heroes. According to him, the message from the president is to emulate heroic values.

"This theme is one of the translations of his direction, 'Fellow your hero and love your country.' There are many values that we can emulate from our heroes, such as their patience in demanding knowledge, patience in consolidating," said Gus Ipul.

In addition, President Prabowo also reminded about the willingness of heroes who prioritize common interests above personal or group interests, as well as the importance of thinking about the future, especially future generations.

"Then, the heroes are willing to prioritize common interests and suppress personal interests. Next, they think about the future, namely future generations. With their faith, they fight not only for the interests of the world, but also for the interests of the afterlife. That is the translation of President Prabowo's direction," explained Gus Ipul.

With the proposed 16 names that will be given the title of national hero, theme and message, the government hopes that the public can appreciate the services of heroes more and continue the spirit of heroism in everyday life.
