SAR Team Evacuates 9 Bodies Of Victims Of The Eruption Of Mount Lewotobi

The joint search and rescue team (SAR) evacuated as many as nine bodies of victims of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"The results of the SAR operation for the joint SAR team on the first day managed to evacuate nine bodies of victims of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki where all of them were evacuated from Klatanlo Village, Wulanggitang District," said Head of the Maumere Basarnas Office Supriyanto Ridwan as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 4.

The joint SAR team also evacuated a critical resident from Dulipali Village, Ile Bura District to Dr. Hendrikus Fernandez Larantuka Hospital.

"After being found and evacuated by the joint SAR Team, then burial was carried out by their respective families," he said.

Based on coordination with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Flores Regency until 17.00 WITA, there were 1,403 residents who fled as a result of the incident.

The refugees were at two refugee points, namely 616 people in the refugee camps of Bonkang Village and 787 people in Konga Village.

Previously, Supriyanto Ridwan explained that there were three sub-districts affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency.

The areas affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki, namely Wulangitang District, as many as six villages including Pululera, Nawokote, Hokeng Jaya, Klatanlo, Boru, and Boru Kedang villages.

The Ile Bura sub-districts are four villages, namely Dulipali, Nobo, Nukolen and Riang Rita and Titehena sub-districts with four villages namely Konga, Kobasoma, Bonkang Wolomatang, and Watowara villages.

Meanwhile, the East Flores Regency Government has established an emergency response status after the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in Wulanggitang District which caused casualties and damage to houses and buildings in the area in the early hours of Monday (4/11).
