Government Frees 418 Rental Fees For Grass Market Flats For Fire Victims

The government has so far exempted the rental fee of 418 units at the Pasar Rumput Jakarta flat (Rusun) for survivors of the Manggarai fire some time ago, for a year from 28 October 2024 to 27 October 2025.

"Of the 1,984 units there, the central government and local governments collaborate for it. It is free of charge for survivors of the Manggarai fire, one year since October 28 yesterday," said Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait when present at the Open House Rusun Pasar Rumput, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 1.

In addition, Maruarar explained, 1,536 units have been provided to be rented by certain groups, namely the first of the surrounding community, then the state civil apparatus (ASN) with low income.

Including the TNI and Polri with low rank, teachers, then people who have jobs around the flats, but have remote residences.

"Previously, the rental fee was Rp. 3.5 million. But now, the rental fee has been reduced by two types, namely Rp. 1.1 million and Rp. 2,250 million," he said.

Maruarar also appreciated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for this policy because it was in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction, which advised every policy to be pro-people, especially the little people.

"I think this is a pro-people policy. In accordance with the direction of the President and the Acting Governor of Jakarta, they have implemented it very well," said Maruarar.

He also hopes that this policy will not be the first and last so that in the future other solutions will continue to be created that make it easier for the community.

Maruarar Sirait together with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Province, Teguh Setyabu, attended the agenda and since 10:00 WIB, residents have packed and many of them are interested in occupying the Grass Market Flats.

The Manggarai fire occurred on Tuesday (13/8) in the early hours of the morning in RW 6 and RW 12 Manggarai, Tebet, South Jakarta.

As a result of the incident, 683 buildings (houses and semi-permanent houses) were destroyed by fire with the number of fire survivors reaching 3,043 people or 1,050 families (KK).
