American Officials Hesitate For Ceasefire Efforts To Be Realized Before The US Presidential Election

JAKARTA - American officials are still hesitant that the last diplomatic effort in the Middle East this week will result in a pause in pre-election battles on November 5.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is waiting to see who will be the next American president.

Netanyahu's news is awaiting the completion of the US campaign is a long-standing view in Joe Biden's administration, but remains strong as the main envoy travels in the region to discuss prospects for ending violence.

CIA Director Bill Burns was in Cairo on Thursday, October 31, to discuss Gaza and Lebanon, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

At the same time, US envoy Amos Hochstein and White House Middle East Coordinator Brett McGurk were in Israel to hold talks on hostage-taking and ceasefire issues as well as discussions about Iran, all centered on US policies on de-escalation supported by deterrence.

However, with the results of the US elections predicted to end in a narrow margin, there is no hope that the last resort to end the war in Gaza and Lebanon will soon bear fruit.
