JAKARTA - The Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) took over the management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) from Harapan Kita Foundation. This was done after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Decree No. 19 of 2021.

"The point of mastery and management of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is done by the Ministry of Finance and means that this also stops the management that has been done by Harapan Kita Foundation," said Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Pratikno in a press conference held virtually, Wednesday, April 7.

He said that this decision was made through a long discussion and listened to the recommendations of a number of parties including the Audit Board of Finance (BPK).

"So Yayasan Harapan Kita has been managing this state-owned for almost 44 years, which is recorded in the Ministry of State Secretariat and we are obliged to make arrangements," he said.

After TMII is taken by the Ministry of Finance, said Pratikno, it will make arrangements so that an area of 1,467,704 square meters can be used by the community. According to him, this kind of thing has also been done to Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) and Kemayoran golf course.

In the future, this area will also be optimized with various functions. In addition to educational facilities, TMII will also be a playground or theme park with international standards.

"We will remain committed that this area becomes the preservation and development of the Nation's culture. Educational facilities that have the culture of the archipelago as it has been run but need to be optimized, can be an on-theme park area of international standard," he explained.

"But we are also minded to use existing facilities to be the center of innovation of the younger generation in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 today," he added.

Furthermore, although TMII is currently in a transition period in its management but all its activities continue to run as usual.

"The staff continue to work as usual, still get financial rights and facilities remain as usual," he said.

"So nothing has changed and later of course we are also committed to the transition team giving the task of how to think about better management innovation and provide better welfare to its staff," he concluded.

Harapan Kita Foundation was founded on August 23, 1968 by Siti Hartinah or the wife of the second President of Indonesia Soeharto, Tien Soeharto. Currently the foundation is built by Ole Soehardjo, Bambang Trihatmodjo, and Rusmono and Siti Hardiyanti Indra Rukmana as Chairman.

Bambang Trihatmodjo and Siti Hardiyanti Indra Rukmana were the children of Suharto.
