KPK Monitors Construction of Yogyakarta Special Region DPRD and BKD Offices

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) through the Coordination and Supervision Task Force for Region III is monitoring the construction of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) office and the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This step was taken to close the gap for corruption.

"The KPK has the authority to coordinate with the DIY Regional Government in the context of prevention so that there are no corrupt practices. Moreover, these two projects cost a lot of money from the DIY regional revenue and expenditure budget or APBD," said Head of the KPK Korsup Task Force for Region III Maruli Tua in a written statement, Tuesday, October 29.

Maruli said that the construction of the DIY DPRD building is planned to be carried out on 5,000 square meters of land. The budget submitted reached IDR 379 billion with a contract duration of three years or 2024 to 2026.

Meanwhile, the BKD building is still in the construction process on 3,000 square meters of land. The cost is said to reach IDR 75 billion.

However, the construction of this building has experienced a deviation of up to -4 percent. Therefore, the anti-corruption commission will continue to monitor its development.

"Every strategic project owned by the region is well planned until it is realized. How is the auction process, the work including supervision until the project is completed," he said.

"Construction service providers (are also reminded, ed.) can ensure that the main raw materials for building construction come from parties with clear legality," continued Maruli.

Meanwhile, DIY Regional Government Inspector Muhammad Setiadi explained that the plan to build the DPRD Building is necessary. This is because the building currently being used is in a cultural heritage and is located in the Malioboro area which is projected to become a tourist area.

In the future, he ensured that the DIY Regional Government and all policymakers would work together. So that the strategic projects that have been planned can have a positive impact.

"We from the supervisory board together with BPKP will continue to monitor, conduct audits so that the development process can run well, according to specifications, volume, and run on time," concluded Setiadi.
