BANDA ACEH - Aceh Police have named eight suspected perpetrators of smuggling Rohingya ethnic immigrants in South Aceh Regency on the wanted list (DPO).

Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police, Kombes Ade Harianto, said the eight alleged perpetrators had their respective roles in smuggling Rohingya immigrants.

"In this case, the police have arrested three suspected perpetrators and named eight other people in the DPO. What their role is, we are investigating it," said Ade Harianto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 23.

The eight DPOs, said Ade Harianto, were convicted in a case of smuggling Rohingya ethnic immigrants in West Aceh Regency a few months ago.

"The convict has the initials H who is currently undergoing conditional leave. We have also written to the prison where H is serving his sentence and conveyed the determination as a suspect and DPO status," he said.

Ade Harianto said investigators were investigating H's involvement and how his connection was in the alleged smuggling of Rohingya ethnic immigrants in South Aceh Regency.

"There are facts about the criminal act of smuggling people related to the arrival of Rohingya immigrants in South Aceh Regency. From the results of the investigation, they were reported to the Aceh fishing boat in Andaman waters and then taken to South Aceh," he said.

He mentioned from this fact that money was found in the activity. However, how much is paid per person, is still under investigation.

"In the case there are also allegations that a number of Rohingya ethnic immigrants were successfully landed in South Aceh and they were brought to Riau. We are still investigating this allegation from the three suspects who had previously been arrested," said Ade Harianto.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Joko Krisdiyanto, stated that the existence of Rohingya ethnic immigrants who are still on a ship four nautical miles from Labuhan Haji land, South Aceh Regency, is purely a criminal act of smuggling people (TPPO).

"The presence of Rohingya immigrants in the waters of Labuhan Haji, South Aceh Regency, is purely a criminal act of smuggling people," said Joko Krisdiyanto.

He said the trafficking crime of people was strengthened by the arrest of three suspected perpetrators with the initials F (35), A (33), and I (32). The three were arrested at the Sibande Traffic Post, West Pakpak, North Sumatra Province, Friday (18/10).

Joko Krisdiyanto said the disclosure of the case began with the discovery of a woman's body around the waters of Labuhan Haji Port, on Thursday (17/10).

Then, the day after that there were reports from the public that one motorbike was adrift about four nautical miles from Labuhan Haji beach.

"After being investigated, it turned out that there were 150 Rohingya immigrants on the ship, of which three died," said Joko Krisdiyanto.
