Police Investigate Allegations Of Defamation Behind The Chaos Of Donations Of Rp1.4 Billion Agus Salim

JAKARTA - The police have begun to investigate the alleged defamation case reported by Agus Salim with reported Pratiwi Noviyanthi. The case is the aftermath of a chaotic donation of Rp1.4 billion.

It is known that Agus Salim received a donation for being a victim of drinking hard water and causing blindness.

"(Alleged defamation) This is what investigators will experience," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi quoted Wednesday, October 23.

In the report made by Agus Salim, the alleged defamation began when the reporter became a victim of sprinkling hard water in August 2024.

Then, the reported party opened a donation by publication via one of the podcasts. Until finally collected Rp1.4 billion.

"On the podcast, it is announced that donations can be sent to the reported account," he said

However, based on Agus Salim's statement, the reported party asked for the donation money back. The reason is because it is considered to have abused the aid.

"Then the funds were asked to be returned by the reported party for transfer to the account of the reported foundation," said Ade.

In fact, at the time of reporting, Agus was said to have conveyed elements of threat. However, it was not clearly conveyed the form of the threat in question.

"The victim also felt that he was threatened with accusations and slander as if the victim was not trusted by the donation money was taken," said Ade.

Meanwhile, Agus Salim's report is registered with the number LP/B/6330/X/2024/SPKT POLDA METRO JAYA dated October 19, 2024.

In the report, Pratiwi Noviyanthi, who is the reported party, is suspected of violating Article 27 A of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) and/or Article 310 and Article 311 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph 4 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE.
