YOGYAKARTA - Ace Hasan Syadzily, or whose full name is Tubagus Ace Hasan Syadzily, was born on September 19, 1976 in Pandeglang, Banten. He comes from a strong family with pesantren traditions and political activities.

His father, KH Tb A. Badminton Ali, was the caretaker of the Annizhomiyayah Islamic Boarding School in Pandeglang as well as a Golkar activist in the New Order era. His father also served as a member of the DPRD from the Golkar Party for four terms.

Launching from the Ace-Hasab website, Ace's education began in Labuan, then continued to the Cipasung Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya and the Krapyak Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta, where he completed his secondary education. Ace then continued his studies at Strata Satu level at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 1994.

Then he continued his education on Strata Dua (S2) majoring in Anthropology at the University of Indonesia, which was completed in 2004. After that, in 2010, he pursued doctoral education in the field of Government Science at Padjadjaran University, Bandung, and earned his doctorate in 2014.

Since schooling, Ace has been active in organizations. At UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, he became the Chair of the Arabic Language and Literature Department Student Association and led the Student Senate of the Faculty of Adab. Ace was also elected President of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah in 1998.

He is active in student organizations such as the Islamic Student Association (HMI) and the Ciputat Student Forum (FORMACI), where his interest in philosophy, social science and politics is growing. In 1998, Ace participated in the reform movement pioneered by students.

The strong influence of intellectual thinking such as Nurcholish Madjid (Cak Nur) reinforces Ace's idea of a relationship between Islam and democracy. He studied many important concepts such as pluralism, civil society, and the importance of religious separation from political parties. Ace's involvement in research and advocacy also led him to work in several research institutions and civil society organizations, including LP3ES and the Indonesian Institute for Civil Society (NCIS).

Ace's career in the Golkar Party began with his involvement in party foreign relations under the leadership of Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. He entered the management of the Golkar Party DPP in 2007 under General Chair Jusuf Kalla. In 2012, Ace was appointed Deputy Secretary General after the revitalization within the party.

Ace was also a special staff member of the Presidential Advisory Council in the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. His experience in government and politics led him to explore various important aspects of leadership and bureaucracy. He is also actively participating in various international exchange programs, such as invitations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States and Japan.

In 2014, Ace and several Golkar politicians supported the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair in the presidential election, although the Golkar Party officially supported Prabowo Subianto. This choice led to dualism within the Golkar Party, but Ace prefers to join Agung Laksono's camp in supporting Jokowi-JK.

Ace's contribution to Indonesian politics is not only through the Golkar Party, but also in the academic world. He teaches at the Faculty of Economics and Business of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Banten. Ace is also a prolific writer, with various articles and books discussing social, political, and religious issues in Indonesia.

In his political career in the DPR, Ace sat on Commission VIII in charge of religious and social issues. During his tenure, he was involved in discussing various important laws, including the Child Protection Law and the Halal Product Guarantee Law. Now, he continues to actively encourage reform within the Golkar Party by focusing on realizing a political party that is clean and with integrity.
