JAKARTA - The ex-wife of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), Veronica Tan now serves as Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Wamen PPPA) in Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's cabinet.

After being inaugurated along with dozens of other deputy ministers, Veronica revealed the contents of the message that Prabowo had conveyed to him.

"(The message from Prabowo) is good to work and yes, hopefully together to build the country," Veronica told reporters at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Monday, October 21.

Veronica Tan, a woman born in Medan, married Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) at the age of 19, which was held Catholic on September 20, 1997. From her marriage to Ahok, Veronica Tan was blessed with three children, namely Nicholas Sean, Nathania, and Daud Albeenner.

Currently, Veronica dedicates his time to the business world. He initiated the LoveCare app, a platform that connects users with various home care services such as nurses, caregivers, and Straights.

In addition, Veronica is also known as a philanthropist. He is the founder of the Waroeng Imaji Foundation which focuses on the welfare of children in flats in Jakarta. Through this foundation, Veronica actively raises funds and promotes various programs to help underprivileged children.

Prabowo hooked dozens of women to sit in the Red and White Cabinet. Apart from Veronica, Prabowo also appointed the Minister of Finance under President Joko Widodo Sri Mulyani to return to office.

In addition, the women appointed as ministers and deputy ministers are Meutya Hafid, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Arifatul Choiri fauzi, Stella Christie, Christina Ariani, Dyah Roro Esti, Diana Kusumastuti, Ni Luh Puspa, and Irene Umar.
